The Executive Pastor of Wooburn Baptist Church acts as the chief operating and financial officer and executive ministry leader, while the Senior/Lead Pastor focuses on preaching, teaching, and vision. The Executive Pastor's primary role is to ensure the
church's infrastructure, fiscal integrity, and disciple-making processes are effectively maintained to support its mission and strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and lead the staff. (e.g. Presiding over weekly staff meetings, one-to-ones with staff members, and oversight of all annual reviews except that of the Senior/Lead Pastor)
- Lead, coach, and motivate the staff to achieve greater excellence and innovation.
- Facilitate and ensure effective communication among all staff and leaders.
- Implement, track, and review WBC policies and procedures, and develop new strategies as needed.
- Manage all church legal matters.
- Assist in making and implementing key leadership decisions in consultation with the Senior/Lead Pastor and Deacons.
- Set strategic direction and priorities to guide the church toward its vision, in coordination with the Senior/Lead Pastor and staff.
- Oversee capital campaigns and building projects, guiding campus master planning, stewardship, and financing.
- Serve as staff liaison with the Personnel Committee (PC).
- Work with PC in hiring of all employees.
- Maintain oversight of committees and ensure clear communications.
- Onboard new committee chairmen, ensuring they know their responsibilities.
- Ensure efficient operation of church office.
- Ensure efficient operation of each underlying ministry (e.g. Next Generation, Worship, Missions, and Administration).
- Provide orientation for new staff members.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all financial matters with the Treasurer, collaborating with the Business Administrator and Budget and Finance Committee to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. (including but not limited to designated funds, loans, trusts, bequests, and
non-monetary gifts)
- Develop and present financial reports to the church membership, in conjunction with the Treasurer, as needed.
EXECUTIVE MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Senior/Lead Pastor and pastoral staff on short- and long-term strategic planning.
- Oversee WBC's adult discipleship ministries (currently excluding Sunday School).
- Work with the Senior/Lead Pastor to assess and address congregation needs.
- Serve on the Sunday morning preaching team if requested.
- Ensure communication of vision to church.

- Strong organizational skills, with experience in leading and growing teams in a large church
- Recruiting, training, leading, and caring for volunteers
- Proficiency in or ability to learn WBC’s software and technology
- Self-confident, highly motivated, disciplined, and teachable
- Committed to teamwork and workplace unity
PERSONAL CREDENTIALS
- Meets the Biblical qualifications of a pastor (1 Tim. 3:1-6, Tit. 1:6-9, 1 Pet. 5:1-3).
- Maintains a personal life consistent with Biblical standards, including a stable marriage and family life (if married).
- Demonstrates a mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ.
- Must pass Kentucky state and FBI criminal record checks, financial background check, and child abuse history clearances.
- Lives with personal integrity and a clear calling to the role.
- Passionate about enhancing the church’s effectiveness and shaping spiritual lives through discipleship.
- Wholeheartedly supports WBC’s vision, direction, and statement of faith.
- Current or future (when hired) membership at WBC required.
- Actively participate in church life as a WBC member.
- Understands and is committed to Biblical peacemaking.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry/Biblical studies or business administration required.
- Master’s or seminary degree preferred.
- Experience serving in a large church (500+ attendance) with contact information and references available is required.
- Experience leading and serving in a multi-staff environment.
- Church leadership and/or management experience is strongly preferred.
